Musicians Express Outrage Over White Nationalist Rally in Charlottesville

Music stars like John Legend, Paramore’s Hayley Williams, Questlove and Mark Ronson took to social media Saturday (Aug. 12) to express their anger over a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Right wing activists and white supremacists -- many dressed in militia uniforms and seen carrying shields and openly carrying long guns -- gathered to protest the Charlottesville’s decision to remove a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee from the city's Emancipation Park.

“The news makes me sick and so do racists in suits who dance around the fact that NAZIS are parading thru the streets in broad daylight,” Williams tweeted.

On Saturday afternoon, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe declared a state of emergency in the city after violence broke out. President Trump tweeted that Americans must "condemn all that hate stands for," adding "there is no place for violence in America."
